Pricing update
Due to the effect that recent market volitility has had on international currency exchange, we've had to take down our 2008 price lists. Changes in the value of the Australian dollar have varied so wildly that a bike sold for a profit today, might be sold at the same price for a loss tomorrow. Growing (and welcome) interest in our bikes from Asia and Europe has compounded this, so until the market settles down a little the price lists are down.
We regret having to do this and hope that it doesn't cause anyone too much of an inconvenience. We'll be more than happy to talk with anyone about ideas and budgets for their next bike, and encourage anyone who needs firm figures or options for any of our bikes to contact us.
Keep it simple. Keep it fair.
Our prices are based on the model of frame you choose. Whether you select a road, track, Audax or touring frame, a 29'er, or a single speed, the price is the same at each level.
All models are available as a frame only – faced, chased and ready for assembly – as a frameset (frame, fork and headset), or as a complete assembled bike. The tables in the pricing charts show typical prices for complete bikes with our recommended parts selection.
Of course, you're also welcome to choose the parts you prefer. We're always able to secure a fair price and guarantee the quality of our assembly. Please call us to discuss your individual component preferences and we'll be happy to provide a quote.
Components for 2009
At Baum, all our bicycles are custom built for each individual customer. Custom bicycles immediately brings custom geometry to mind – seat angle, head angle top tube length and so on – but at Baum it also extends to custom tube sizes, custom tube butting, custom paint and personal parts selection. We can supply almost any combination of components for your Baum, whether you want a 29er expedition tourer to ride to Alice Springs or a super-svelt road bike for dishing out the pain in the mountains.
Super Record, Record and Chorus 11 speed
The new 11-speed groupsets from Campagnolo are now readily available. We have shipped plenty of customer bikes with these groupsets, which are proving very popular. You can see some of them photographed on our Flickr photostream.
Dura-Ace 7900
As with the new Campagnolo groupsets, Dura-Ace has a new lever shape and hidden cables.
SRAM Red
SRAM set new benchmarks with their Red groupset and it is still the second lightest next to Super Record. It has SRAMs super positive double tap shifting and a very ergonomic hood shape.
German Carbon Group Components
If you want to go über light, European boutique parts are available. AX-Lightness, Schmolke, Tune, Carbon-Ti and THM Carbones make saddles, brakes, stems, seatposts, handlebars, cranks, forks for road and MTB.
